Harwood-Waelder 69kV Transmission Line Upgrade Project

The (“LCRA”) is a nonprofit public utility established to provide quality of life to Texans through water stewardship, energy, and community service.
In November 2017, LCRA contracted Irby to upgrade a 13.9 mile 69kV transmission line between its Harwood and Waelder substations to 138kV capable. The Irby scope included the replacement of 112 structures to complete the conductor upgrade and the installation of OPGW shield wire from Waelder to Flatonia substations.
The Irby upgrades (including foundations, tangents, and dead ends) were performed on energized lines with support from and (Both Irby and Probst are companies (PWR:NYSE)). Completed to schedule in May 2018, the project was delivered to budget and with zero lost time incidents.
